서울대학교 사범대학 체육교육과는 1946년 개설 이래, 체육교육과 스포츠학을 아우르는 국내 최고의 교육·연구 기관으로 자리매김해 왔습니다. ‘전인교육’을 실현하고자 하는 사범대학의 교육 이념 아래, 우리는 신체활동을 통한 건강한 삶의 실현과 함께 체육교육을 통해 사회적 가치를 창출할 수 있는 인재를 길러내고 있습니다.
오늘날 스포츠는 단순한 신체활동을 넘어 교육, 복지, 산업, 정책 등 사회 전반에 걸쳐 영향력을 확대하고 있으며, 이에 따라 체육과 스포츠에 대한 전문적 소양과 실천적 역량을 겸비한 인재에 대한 수요 또한 급증하고 있습니다. 서울대학교 체육교육과는 체육교육, 스포츠과학, 스포츠산업 등 다양한 분야의 교수진과 연구진이 긴밀히 협력하여, 학생 개개인의 진로와 적성에 맞춘 교육을 제공하고 있으며, 세계적 수준의 연구 역량을 바탕으로 국내외 학계 및 현장에서 활약할 수 있는 전문가 양성에 힘쓰고 있습니다.
앞으로도 서울대학교 체육교육과는 전통과 혁신을 조화롭게 이어가며, 시대의 요구에 발맞춘 교육을 실천하겠습니다. 더불어 건강하고 포용적인 사회를 구현하는데 기여하도록 끊임없이 고민하고 노력하겠습니다.

Since its founding in 1946, the Department of Physical Education at Seoul National University’s College of Education has been a leading institution for education and research in physical education and sport sciences. Guided by the College’s philosophy of holistic education, we strive to nurture individuals who promote healthy living through physical activity and generate social value through physical education.
In today’s world, sport extends beyond physical activity to influence education, welfare, industry, and policy. This growing significance has created a strong demand for professionals with both specialized knowledge and practical skills. Our faculty and researchers—spanning physical education, sport science, and the sport industry—work together to provide education tailored to each student’s aspirations, supported by world-class research that prepares them to excel both domestically and internationally.
We will continue to blend tradition with innovation, offer education that meets the needs of our time, and contribute to building a healthy and inclusive society.
